Dr. Mohammad Shehata is a passionate neuroscientist with a lifelong interest in computer science and human behavior. He earned his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Toyama, Japan, under the mentorship of the renowned Prof. Kaoru Inokuchi. Dr. Shehata’s groundbreaking research focused on understanding memory storage, leading to the development of a method to selectively erase fear memories, featured in the Journal of Neuroscience (2012 and 2018), and another significant breakthrough by uncovering the concept of “memory identity,” published in Science (2018) and garnered attention from esteemed Nobel Laureate Sir Eric Kandel, who featured it in his review article. Continuing his pursuit of knowledge, he delved into psychophysics and subconscious perception at the California Institute of Technology, where he discovered the neural basis of “Team Flow” in humans, published in eNeuro and covered by numerous prestigious media outlets such as The Times Magazine London, Scientific American, Psychology Today, and many others. Dr. Shehata’s research has attracted collaborations from governmental bodies and industry giants like NASA, Sony CSL, and several startups.
